This steering
shaft is one piece design that is TIG welded and Nickel plated to avoid
rusting and provide a high quality appearance. The universal joints are CNC
machined from aircraft steel and use sealed needle bearings for a smooth
long life. We have designed the steering shaft to be universal for all
steering racks. We use a different adapter that is bolted to the lower
joint to change between the different splines required for each rack style.
The standard steering shaft assembly (FFR# 14553) includes the adapter for
the 87-93 power steering rack.

The 1987-1993 Power steering rack has a ¾”-36 spline input shaft.
The Manual steering rack has a 9/16-26
spline input shaft
The 1994-2004
Power steering rack has a triangular or “Pyramid” shaped input shaft.
